A fine and detailed builder's model of the turret deck steamers 'Argyll' and 'Sutherland' built and engineered by W.Doxford & Sons Ltd Sunderland for the Sutherland Steamship Co.Ltd., Newcastle-on-Tyne -- 12¾ x 44in (32.5 x 111.8cm) With masts, derricks and rigging and deck details including anchors, winches, cleates, bollards, ventilators, deck rails, companionways, hatches, deck winches, wheel house with open bridge over with ship's wheel, binnacle and telegraphs, stayed funnel, gratings, engine room lights, poop deck house and four ship's boats with bottom boards and thwarts in davits and many other details. Finished in red, black and varnish with silver plated deck fittings and mounted on two silver plated turned columns. Original mahogany glazed case. Table, (later). See colour illustration
