An extremely fine and detailed exhibition standard 5in. gauge model of the Great Western Railway River Class 2-4-0 locomotive and tender No. 69 'Avon' as running in 1906, built from builder's drawings and photographs by R.W. Gale, Newport -- 14¼ x 53¼in.(36 x 135cm) Complete with brazed superheated S2 type boiler with B2 type smokebox and scale cab and backhead fittings including water and pressure gauges, safety, blower, injector, whistle, steam brake, hydrostatic lubricator, clack and blowdown valves. Chassis details include twin inside cylinders with stephenson's link reversing, footplate controlled valve chest draincock, fluted connecting and coupling rods, hydrostatic lubricator, crosshead driven feed pump and by-pass, steam operated brake gear, whistle, injector, dummy details include fine riveting, inside and outside frames, the outside of sandwich construction, four axle boxes to each coupled axle, working leaf springs, canvas covered planked cab roof, opening cab windows and many other details. Tender details include hand feed, hand operated brake gear and water pick-up scoop with scale controls, sanding boxes, water cock, tool boxes, two tank mounted ratchet jacks, dummy well tank, fine riveting, steps, hand and lamp irons. Finished in G.W.R. livery of the period with appropriate plates. Boiler certificate dated July 1982. Firing irons. Additonal equipment includes scale pick and showel, bucket, flame lamp, punch bar, hand brush etc. Fitted carrying boxes
