Infy.) contact marks, fine £70-90 Footnote William Carr was born in Hebburn, Newcastle. A Labourer by occupation, he attested for the Durham Light Infantry at Newcastle on 25 August 1897, aged 18 years, 3 months. Served in South Africa with the 1st Battalion and was later with the N.E. District Mounted Infantry. Transferred to the Army Reserve in November 1904; discharged on 22 August 1909. Also awarded the King’s medal with two clasps. With copied service papers and roll extracts.
