An historically interesting collection of medals and memorabilia relating to police sergeant Harry Payne (1875-1960) chauffeur to their majesties King Edward VII and Queen Alexandra comprising: Medals A Royal Victorian medal, George V, in case of issue; Queen Victoria's Metropolitan Police Jubilee Medal 1897 (PC.H.Payne.K.Divn); Metropolitan Police Coronation Medal 1902 (PC.H.Payne.A.Div); Coronation Medal 1911; Silver Jubilee Medal 1935; Volunteer Force Long Service & Good Conduct Medal (Victoria Regina, Lce.Corpl.H.Payne.1st V.B.Worc Regt); Denmark, Christian X, The King's Medal of Recompense, silver with crown, in case of issue. MOTORING MEMORABILIA A plated car mascot of the King's dog "Caesar" in begging pose, 4 1/2in. high. A County of London Driving Licence to Harry Payne No.103, dated 28th December 1903 and another dated 20th December 1904. A circular white metal and enamel St.Christopher medallion inscribed "Regard St. Christopher puis Va-T-En Rassure" with lilac guilloche enamel surround and metal hanging loop on the reverse. It is said that King Edward VII insisted that this be displayed in the Royal car whenever he used it. MISCELLANEOUS A leather framed photograph of HRH Princess Victoria with her dog "Mac"; a small collection of printed ephemera relating to the King's dog "Caesar"; a leather dressing case later fitted as a first aid kit containing bandages, ointment, bottles, scissors, a medicine glass and a small glass flask - the white metal top engraved with the Royal crown; and a plated pint tankard engraved "1st V.B.Worc.Regt.E Co Marksman 1897 Pte.H.Payne".
