A 19th-Century lacquered-brass compound monocular microscope, signed on the Y-shaped foot NEWTON & CO 3, Fleet Street Temple Bar LONDON , the barrel with micrometer adjustment above the nosepiece mount, threaded to unscrew for storage from the short limb from the main pillar, within which the triangular-section support moves via rack and pinion, with mechanical stage and plano-concave mirror, and accessories including two eyepieces, Newton ¼, 1, 2 and 3in. objectives in signed brass canisters, nosepiece and substage polarizers, table-standing bull's-eye condensor, and a substage aperture disc, the fitted mahogany carrying case with a good label on the inside for Newton & Co , a small slide drawer with some unused slides, and brass carrying handle -- 28cm. (11in.) high ; and another 19th-Century lacquered-brass monocular microscope, signed on the foot and the main column BAKER 244 High Holborn LONDON , the body-tube with a Zeiss objective and sliding in a sleeve above the circular stage, with micrometer fine adjustment and plano-concave substage mirror, the carrying case with leather handle and a plaque for MSE LONDON -- 27.5cm.
