Beschreibung:

When one thinks of any Rolls-Royce, especially the firm's top-of-the-range Corniche convertible, one may well imagine wafting down to the South of France in unhurried elegance- something of a motorised British gentleman's club, complete with the same finest quality burr walnut and commodious Connolly trimmed armchairs. Yet in this case one might be in for a rude awakening, for this is truly a wolf in sheeps clothing. It is infact number '0' of a series of 15 specially commissioned Corniche chassis hand built by the Crewe factory with the turbocharged, 400bhp engine of the concurrently produced Bentley Turbo R sports saloon lurking under the bonnet. Should the owner of this particular Rolls-Royce come across a sports car owner expecting easy prey, the latter may easily be despatched to the rear view mirror with a whiff of the 6.75 litre turbocharged V8, undoubtedly leaving the other driver (and possibly that of the Corniche) it complete amazement. It is what Rolls-Royce might refer to as 'rapid progress'. The 'standard' Corniche, if one can call any bespoke motor car with a price tag well in excess of £100,000 'standard', was of course the flagship of the Rolls-Royce catalogue for some twenty years. Its classic styling, which has aged gracefully and only improves with the passage of time, has endeared it to enthusiasts and collectors, and even today there are few modes of transport which pamper their occupants and cosset them from the outside world quite like a Corniche. Surveying the road ahead from the drivers seat, behind the long expanse of bonnet crested by the graceful Flying Lady which appears to announce one's passage, does indeed give those fortunate enough to be at the wheel an 'otherwordly' feeling which is hard to describe. Carlo Talamo appreciated the contrast which this Rolls-Royce suggests. Finished in a distinctive Primrose yellow, it appealed to his taste and was affectionately referred to as the 'giallina'. The interior is trimmed in natural Connolly hide piped brown with matching tan carpets, and the fully lined hood is beige. Lambswool over rugs are fitted, and the original radio/ cassette player is in place. The odometer reads a mere 13,213 miles and the limited build number of the car is recorded on the dashboard. Registered in Italy in 2000, this is a probably unique opportunity to acquire a Rolls-Royce Corniche built to this specification - something for the connoisseur. Local taxes will apply if the car remains in Switzerland.
