1985 Porsche 9245 Lot Number 109 Registration C893 DYC Chassis Number WPOZZZ922GN401150 Engine Number 43G05362 Odometer reading 111,800 miles Estimate No Reserve Result Sold - £4,928 Print details Send this to a friend The Porsche 924 was a design commission undertaken by Porsche for VW/Audi that was abandoned by the client and sold back to Porsche late in development with Audi agreeing to build the car at its Neckarsulm plant. A two-door, 2+2 coupé, the 924 replaced the 914 as the company's entry-level model and effectively retired the 912. It was the first Porsche to be powered by a water-cooled, front-mounted engine to make production easier - this front-engine, rear wheel drive arrangement was normal for most other manufacturers but unusual for Porsche having previously only used mid- or rear-mounted engines of a boxer configuration, all of which had been air-cooled. The 924 was a success and eventually evolved into the ’S’ using the larger 944's 163bhp, 2.5 litre straight four engine with the suspension upgraded to cope. Its long-term owner, a Mr. John Goff of Surrey, has maintained this 924S either by Porsche Guildford or respected specialists, GT One Ltd of Surrey. With just two owners recorded from new, some 32 years, it has certainly been well looked after, receiving a light restoration in recent years by GT One Ltd. Invoices can be viewed in the extensive history file, alongside the original owners pack and manual, V5C, MoT test certificate and HPI certificate. It received a cam-belt service in January of this year including renewal of water pump and starter motor. The paintwork, mechanical condition and interior are all in extremely good order and this handsome 924S is ready for its lucky new owner.
