1973 JAGUAR E-TYPE V12 SERIES III ROADSTER Chassis No. UD1S 22131 BW Engine No. 7S 10715LA Chocolate brown with tan leather upholstery Engine: V12, overhead camshafts, 5,343cc., 241bhp at 4,750rpm; Gearbox: four-speed manual; Suspension: independent front and rear; Brakes: hydraulic disc. Left hand drive. Launched in 1961, the E-Type Jaguar displayed the superb lines of its illustrious ancestry. Built to succeed the XK range, the model's sleek and flowing form was an immediate sensation. Originally powered by a 3.8 liter engine and later upgraded to a 4.2, the car also received four wheel disc brakes and fully independent suspension. The E-Type gained even more superior performance in 1971 when the 5.3 liter V12 (Jaguar's first new engine since the debut of the XK120) was made available. With 241 horsepower and the smooth V12, the Jaguar was a refined yet exciting car. Prior to 1971, only Ferrari and Lamborghini provided this combination, but with less refinement and at a much higher price. This V12 Jaguar roadster appears to be a highly original example and the mileage of some 44,000 is believed to be accurate from new. The current custodian acquired the car around four years ago from the St. Louis area and has used the car sparingly during fine weather weekends primarily for the drive to and from his country club. The paintwork is generally very presentable with the exception of a number of small stone chips and some other older blemishes and marks here and there. The upholstery is showing some age and patina of use and has partly been re-dyed at some stage. The original carpets and trim to the transmission tunnel have shrunk slightly, although some sisal floor carpets have been fitted over the originals. The current owner fitted the set of chrome wire wheels which greatly enhances the car's sporting appearance; the original wheels are available. This car comes equipped with factory air conditioning. On a recent test drive the Jaguar behaved as expected; the engine ran well, there were no rattles or squeaks and the brakes were good, the oil pressure was around 40psi. This affordable classic Jaguar E-type is reluctantly being sold as the owner is moving home. WITHOUT RESERVE
