1973 FERRARI 246 GTS DINO COACHWORK BY SCAGLIETTI TO PININFARINA DESIGN Chassis No. 05480 Giallo Fly with black Daytona leather seats and black inserts Engine: V-6, mid-engine, double overhead camshafts, cast iron block and light alloy heads, 2,418cc, 178bhp at 7,000rpm; Gearbox: five-speed manual; Suspension: front and rear independent with unequal length A-arms, coil springs, tubular shock absorbers; Brakes: four wheel disc. Left hand drive. Designed by Pininfarina and built by Scaglietti, these exquisite cars earned their reputation as superb driver's cars. Mid-engined with a flexible power unit, an uncomplicated chassis, independent suspension and a comfortable driver's cockpit, they proved to be quick, maneuverable cars that are still a joy to drive. The Pininfarina styling has lasted over 30 years and both the GT and GTS Dinos are still hugely admired by Ferrari enthusiasts. This 1973 example was fully restored before joining a Japanese car collection some years ago; the paintwork and panelwork are first class with unmarked Giallo Fly yellow with black removable roof panel that stows neatly behind the seats. The standard of door fit is excellent and the quality of the paintwork remains superb. The interior has black Daytona seats with black carpeting and correct black dashtop. Factory Borletti air conditioning is fitted along with electric windows. The indicated mileage shows 34,679 and there are a Dino GTS handbook and an Owner's Manual in a leather pouch offered with the car. On a test drive the car was a delight, with tight steering, positive brakes and good performance and of course it attracted all the right attention. The Dino Ferrari was a revelation in terms of handling and stability, as well as being good for almost 150mph. The Pininfarina styled coachwork is timeless. This is an extremely pretty example of a very popular Seventies Ferrari that should be a welcome addition to any motor house.
