Beschreibung:

The GT 1300 Junior Zagato was a limited production two-seater coupé with aerodynamic bodywork by Zagato of Milan. The model evoked the earlier, race-oriented Giulietta Sprint Zagatos which featured aluminium bodywork and had a very active competition history. However, the Junior Zagato featured a steel bodyshell with an aluminium bonnet and aluminium doorskins (on the earlier 1300 JZ's). The 1300 JZ was not specifically intended for racing and did not see much use in competition. The 1300 JZ was first seen in public at the Turin Motor Show of 1969 and, in total, 1,117 units were constructed of which two were destroyed during production because the body shells were not within specification. The 1300 was based on the floor pan, driveline and suspension of the 1300 Spider. However, the floor pan was shortened behind the rear wheels to fit the body shell and an Alfa Montreal fuel tank was fitted. The last 1300 Junior Zagato was produced in 1972 although in 1974 (according to the records) two further cars were built. Originally delivered to Arturo Romanin of Padova, Italy, it remained with him for some 14 years before being sold to the Sannito brothers in 1984, long term owners who eventually parted with it in 2003. With some sporadic ownership in the intervening years, it eventually fell to the current vendor in 2007, a collector with an eye for design and with a number of other specialist motorcars to his credit. It was under his insistence that an initial mechanical refurbishment took place with Alfaman Services. This included a full gearbox rebuild, the servo and front calipers replaced with 1750 GTV items, the engine itself replaced with a 2000cc unit, new windscreen and a suspension rebuild. In 2010, Alfaholics set to work on the engine and suspension setup developing 183bhp fast road Nord unit with 45mm DCOE carburetors and a lightweight flywheel. Also included were GTA ram pipes, oil catch can and cooler, radiator and a new sports clutch. Alfaholics also supplied their own fast road suspension, 7x15"" GTA wheels and tyres and a full stainless steel exhaust system. This was, as illustrated, recorded on a dynamometer at 183bhp at 6,400rpm with a red line at 7,200rpm. Great design combined with strong performance and exemplary road manners, a heady combination.
