1967 Jaguar 340 Saloon (Man O/D) Lot Number 238 Registration LHP 340F Chassis Number 1J50184DN Engine Number 1J50195-8 Odometer reading 74,893 miles Estimate £10,000 - £15,000 Print details Send this to a friend 5 more images Synonymous with the swinging `60s and the hit TV Series Inspector Morse, the Mk. II was undoubtedly the most admired Saloon to emanate from Jaguar's hallowed Browns Lane factory. Featuring notably slimmer roof pillars than its Mk. I predecessor, the immortal Mk. II was as airy on the inside as it was elegant on the outside. The interior was quintessentially British with its sumptuous leather-covered seats, polished wood facia and door cappings, extensive instrumentation and impressive row of auxiliary toggle switches. These cars punched well above their weight. Equipped with either a 3.4 litre or 3.8 engine, the Jaguar was capable of sprinting to 60mph in as little as 8.5 seconds and on to a top speed of 125mph - small wonder that it was the first choice of both bank robbers and the police of the period! This manual with overdrive 340 Saloon is presented in what is described as unmarked green paintwork with beige trim. A three owner car and showing just under 75,000 miles, which the vendor believes can be supported by the old MoT test certificates. It is offered with original log book and service booklets alongside the original toolkit and jack. A recent MoT has been carried out which extends until March 2018, and we are told the car is mechanically sound, with a recent stainless steel exhaust, upgraded power steering, an alternator and electronic ignition. Sitting on refurbished wire wheels this is a very attractive and well priced example with desirable specification.
