The car then underwent a full and restoration including expert attention to the bodywork, the braking systems, the front and rear axles and suspension and the electrics. The interior has been refurbished, with a custom leather gear lever cover and gaiter, an engine-turned dash panel and accessory tachometer, reflecting its sporting nature. The heart of a Lotus Cortina, the Lotus 1,558cc twin camshaft engine, has been carefully rebuilt and appears to run lustily and without any oil leaks - a common failing of this unit. Having remained in storage and unused for the last year or so, this well presented Lotus Cortina recreation would now benefit from a couple of small cosmetic jobs to make perfect.
