1965 FERRARI 275 GTB COACHWORK BY PININFARINA Chassis No. 07683 Engine No. 07683 Fly yellow with black leather and grey cloth interior. Engine: V-12, single overhead camshaft per bank, 3,286cc, 280bhp at 7,600rpm; Gearbox: five speed transaxle; Brakes: four wheel disc; Suspension: independent front and rear. Left hand drive. At the Paris Salon of 1964, Ferrari chose to launch his new Berlinetta Coupe, the 275 GTB. With an evolutionary design from the preceding Coupes, it was considerably more sporting than the 250 GT "Lusso" which it replaced. The recent developments of the Competition 275P and 250M were reflected in numerous areas of the GTB, the most significant being the independent rear suspension and a new 5-speed transaxle which provided better weight distribution. The spectacular Pininfarina-designed coachwork was very reminiscent of the 250 GTO. The press applauded this new Super Car and one well-known reporter summarized his road test by saying, "the 275 GTB is superlatively vigorous, very agile and very fast, its comfort, quality of finish, and the original lines of its bodywork justify its high price, for it is an exceptional motor car, a thoroughbred with luxury devoid of excess and a fiery temperament." Its subsequent competition successes more than justify these remarks, particularly the 1965 Le Mans result--275-engined Ferraris filled the top three positions with the GTB coming 3rd and winning the G.T. class. Ferrari factory records indicate that 07683 was built in August of 1965, destined for Mr. Gould of New York. It has not been confirmed that he took delivery. Subsequent records indicate that the car was sold by Luigi Chinetti Motors to Kleiner Motors, a Ferrari dealer in Houston. Extensive records which accompany the car provide a detailed picture of its life from 1966 when it was sold by Kleiner Motors to Senor Diego Manriquez of Mexico City. Included with the paperwork from this period are; an original bill of sale for $13,278.50; the original temporary Texas license plate issued to Senor Manriquez and original Mexican registration papers and window decals. In 1976, the car returned to the U.S. and its history is well documented to the present. It has competed and won awards in the Ferrari Club of America concours events at both the regional and national level. In AACA judging at Hershey, Pennsylvania, it achieved both a 1st Junior and 1st Senior award. Total mileage from new is less than 20,000. 07683 comes with an extensive service file-meticulous restoration and repair work has been carried out on the car since the current owner purchased it in 1984. No expense was spared, and there are bills reflecting this totalling approximately $80,000. The 275 GTB comes with its complete tool kit and an owner's manual. As an indication of how carefully this car has been preserved over the years, the original grey cloth seat inserts are intact and in very good condition. This is one of the most original low mileage 275 GTB's in the world. Superbly maintained, it offers a wonderful opportunity to acquire an all-time classic Ferrari.
