Beschreibung:

1956 CORVETTE ROADSTER Chassis No. E56S002931 Engine No. 0620340F56FG Arctic blue with cream leather interior. Engine: V8, 265ci, high lift cam, twin four-barrel carburetors, 225bhp; Gearbox: powerglide automatic; Brakes; front and rear drum; Suspension: front, unequal length A-arms, coil springs, anti-roll bar, rear, live axle, semi-elliptic leaf springs. Left hand drive. The 1956, Corvette owes much to the Ford Thundebird, GMs answer to Dearborn's posh "personal" car was the second generation Corvette. The all new design was created by Harley Earl, GMs design director. He came up with fresh new styling that was tasteful in an age of garishness. As well as sexy, low slung, and distinctly American. The '56 styling was considered a masterpiece of sportscar design. The car looked like the serious sports car it was and received the title "Americas only true sports car". The chassis was heavily reworked by engineering wizard Zora Arkus-Duntov, the result was a tightened up steering response and handling. The Corvette was now had a quickness through turns to match its acceleration on the straights. The new car was powered by Chevrolet's superb 265ci V8 designed by Henry Barr and Edward N. Cole, which in normal tune developed 210bhp. However, with a high lift cam and twin four-barrel carburetors, as fitted to this car, 225bhp was available. With its second generation car Corvette began to make its mark in international competition, a Corvette finished ninth, to much acclaim, in the gruelling 12 hours of Sebring in 1956. A further improvement on the 1956 model over previous cars, was that the soft tops fitted well, as well as a snug factory hard top also being available, this car is offered with both a white soft top and a blue hard top. This car has beneffited from a cosmetic upgrade, and other than this is a very original car, with matching numbers. It comes with a Wonderbar radio, and a new stainless steel exhaust system was fitted approximately five years ago.
