Beschreibung:

Triumph introduced the Mayflower model in 1949, a companion on the production line to the Renown and Roadster models and a clear strike at the lucrative small family saloon market. The distinctive razor-edge styling of the two-door saloon coachwork echoed that of the high quality Renown saloons and the new car was powered by a robust 1,247cc side-valve engine with alloy head, inherited from the Standard Ten. It was a well constructed car and it deserved to succeed but was unable to compete economically with the equally good offerings from the giant Morris and Austin factories. This car was one of the last off the production line, being first registered a fortnight after the Queen’s Coronation in June 1953. Some 18 years later it was acquired by a Mr Belcher who restored the car, presenting it to the Museum in 1984. The car is presented in green livery and is to original specification in all major respects. It will now benefit from attention to the coachwork and chrome and will generally respond well to the tender loving care of an enthusiast. It comes with a V5 registration document and old style log book.
