The painting has a glue relining, probably from the mid-20th century, which is stable and serviceable. The surface is relatively clean, though one could consider a deeper varnish. Under UV, there has been some careful attention to some small localized issues to help the painting read better, but these are in general tiny feathered retouches and are well applied. There is a small spot of restoration to the lower edge of the book, with little touches and strengthenings here and there. In a modern gilt molded frame. This painting could be hung as is, or one could change the frame and adjust the varnish. The lot is sold in the condition it is in at the time of sale. The
