The collection comprising approximately 150 items form mostly the children and grandchildren of the Commodore, including a large inscribed photograph of the Duchess of Marlborough. Autograph items include: William Henry Vanderbilt (1921-1885) signed N.Y. Central & Hudson River R.R. ticket, 1870; Cornelius Vanderbilt II (1843-1899) document also signed by his wife Alice Vanderbilt and son William Henry Vanderbilt transferring lands, 1897; William Henry Vanderbilt (1921-1885) Signed stock certificate New York Harlem Rail Road Company, 1873; William Kissam Vanderbilt (1849-1920) signed two Pine Creek Railway Company stock certificates, 1885; Cornelius Vanderbilt IV (1898 -1974), signed stock certificate of Vanderbilt Newspapers, 1924; George Washington Vanderbilt (1862-1914), autograph note signed, 1901; Alfred Gwynne Vanderbilt (1877-1915). Signed postcard, 1908; William Henry Vanderbilt III (1901 - April 14, 1981), signed card; Consuelo Vanderbilt, Duchess of Marlborough (1877-1964), large signed photograph mounted, wear to board surrounding image; Books include: W.K. Vanderbilt's East Made West with the Loss of a Day, privately published 1933, inscribed by the author, the trade edition in cloth, one of 800 copies; two books inscribed by Cornelius Vanderbilt, Jr.; Double Exposure signed by both Gloria Vanderbilt and Thelma Lady Furness; Alfred G. Vanderbilt photo illustrated book from trip on the "Venture - London-Brighton 1914), red suede, fine; Mr. Vanderbilt's Home and Collection, Holland Edition, 8 of 10 parts only, worn; and other volumes relating to Newport, etc. Ephemera includes: an early desk blotter, a post card to the Consuelo Montagu, Duchess of Manchester, c/o Frederick Vanderbilt, 1919; Dozens of press photographs with photographer stamps and blurbs to versos; Stock certificate made out to F.W. Vanderbilt; Picture postcards; Mentions or pictures of various Vanderbilts in various magazines; Together with a childhood diary of Pauline Bahlmann of Newport, RI, sister to Anna, whose letters to Edith Wharton were recently published. The condition of the autograph items very good but with some stains, folds, creases, etc; the books somewhat worn with stains, ephemeral items with tears, signs of handling, etc., an interesting collection that should be seen.
