Contemporary vellum with gilt motif incorporating a dog, crown and shield set in floral border, evidence of 2 ties. Provenance : Alfred and Blanche de Curzon (bookplate). COMINES, Philippe de, Seigneur d'Argenton. Les memoires... , Rouen: Jean Berthelin, 1634. 8° (136 x 78mm). Engraved portraits of Louis XI, Charles, Duc de Bourgogne and the author, engraved initials, headpieces and tailpieces (a few leaves lightly browned, some spotting, light marginal dampstaining). Contemporary vellum, title in ink on spine, evidence of 2 ties, red speckled edges, yapp edges (small tear in spine with some loss, neat tears to pastedowns). With another 5 books, all bound in vellum, including Nouveau traité de la civilitae Françoise (Brussels, 1675), Jean Garet's Mortuos vivorum precibus adivvari (Amtwerp, 1565, disbound), Tacitus's Annalium (Amsterdam, 1540) and Gabrielis Naudei's Bibliographia Politica (Leiden, 1642).
