Two rare Yorkshire ceramic 'cottage' money boxes, mid - late 19th century, the first in the form of a high-pitched roof cottage impressed 'T.Swann' and highlighted in cobalt blue, modelled with steps, garden seats and a front garden wall, 16.5cm., losses, the second cottage with leaded windows picked out in blue and red / brown enamel and incised to the reverse 'James Neilson August 21st 1884', 15.5cm, latter repaired Estimate £150-250 T Swann example - has losses to both chimney and old chip losses to the top of the gables and the doorway to the balls on the fence posts, areas of black speckling to the glaze all over, a firing crack to the left hand side, slight crazing to the glaze Model inscribed James Neilson - crazing to glaze all over which is stained around areas of the roof and a section of the base on one corner has been restored and restuck, restoration now discoloured
