Beschreibung:

The new S-Class saloons – standard and long wheel-base – were proudly launched in January 1991 after lengthy development which commenced in the early ‘80s. A year later, the new generation of two-door S-Class coupes were introduced, closely based on the S-Class Saloons, but with a shorter 115.9-inch wheelbase. Sumptuously equipped like the saloons, the most powerful 600SEC had no less than a 402bhp, 6-litre, V-12 power unit, enough to meet most situations, with 60mph in just 6.5seconds. One of the worlds’ finest cars and developed virtually without regard to cost, these models reached the UK market at the height of recession in 1991, and at a list price of £93,000 in standard form, were only afforded by the very wealthy. With a silky smooth ride, this was one of the largest, heaviest cars on the market. Handling was surprisingly agile, with steering, stopping, and cornering poise that inspired confidence, doing justice to sports cars half their weight. Composure was maintained through just about any adverse road conditions, making long-distance driving quite effortless. Well, one cannot aspire to a larger-engined Mercedes - combined with more affordable luxury modern motoring than this, a blend of prestige and quality surely very hard to match. In ‘blue-black’ or gun-metal grey with beige leather interior, just 79,000 miles and two owners are recorded. Described as excellent in all respects, just slipping into the sumptuous leather driving seat, one can appreciate the vendor’s statement that a lazy 120mph feels like 70mph in most other cars, the model being one of the quietest cars around, helped no doubt by the insulation from the double-pane side windows. A new Mercedes now ordered, this very fine car was recently fitted with a £1500 Alpine GPS/6-CD changer, the personal registration plate included in the sale, with Swansea V5, road tax to November 2004 and MoT until March 2005.
