Green/ Trophy/ Waukegan Race/ 1918/ Won by/ Diamond," ht. 7 1/4; the other with narrow body and two ear handles, overlay silver design of fabric swags centering an urn, club insignia with polychrome enameled burgee, and engraved inscription, "Lambin Trophy/ LPYC/ Autumn Regatta/ 1918/ Won by/ Diamond," ht. 11 3/4 in. N.B. The Lincoln Park Yacht Club merged with the Chicago Yacht Club in 1920. The 1917 edition of Lloyd's Registry of American Yachts lists H.R. Green as the treasurer of the Lincoln Park Yacht Club. A centerboard sloop named Diamond was owned by Samuel T.A. Loftis, a Chicago diamond merchant. Loftis attained some notoriety after his brother shot him over a business disagreement. Loftis died under questionable circumstances while entertaining a young lady after his scandalous divorce.
