TWO GEORGIAN IVORY-HILTED MIDSHIPMAN'S DIRKS OR DAGGERS, both circa 1800, the first with flat diamond 8in. narrow double edged blade etched for the first half with foliate scrolls and martial trophies (strong traces of blue and gilt), carved ivory straight cross-guard with turned ball-ended quillions, tapering ivory hily carved with three bands of dot and ring decoration separating two sections of carved blind flutes, the swollen reeded pommel with turned ball finial, the second with 7 7/8in. narrow stiletto blade (pitted, tip re-profiled), central narrow fuller, brass oval plate below the straight brass ball-ended cross-guard, reeded 'spadroon' hilt, rectangular cap and ball finial, both missing their scabbards
