Two 19th/20th century wood knobkerries, Southern Africa, 78cm and 69cm. (2) Provenance: The smaller of the two in the present lot was acquired in South Africa in 1899 by Guy Evers, English international rugby union forward, thence by descent to the vendor. The larger was acquired in the same region by the vendor in 1957. Footnote: Guy Evers (1874-1959) played as a forward for Moseley and was a player in the British Lions Tour of Australia in 1899.
