Blue simulated morocco, front cover gilt-lettered with a quotation from Truman, spine gilt-lettered, t.e.g.; publisher's cloth slipcase. LIMITED EDITION, one of 250 copies specially bound for presentation purposes. PRESENTATION COPY, BOLDLY INSCRIBED BY TRUMAN TO ELEANOR ROOSEVELT on the limitation page: "E.R. To: Mrs. Franklin D. Roosevelt From: The President. White House, August 22, 1952." ADDITIONALLY INSCRIBED beneath facing frontispiece portrait: "With admiration for a great lady. Harry Truman." RARE. Only three other special copies of this important collection of Truman memoranda and other documents have been offered at auction in recent years, inscribed to Vice President Alben Barkley, Secretary of Commerce Harriman and the Honorable Howard McGrath. This copy, inscribed to Eleanor Roosevelt, is the finest association copy to come to auction.
