Beschreibung:

Tiffany Opalescent Favrile Glass Vase Circa 1908 With applied flowering branches decoration, signed L.C. Tiffany-Favrile 673 C. Height 12 3/4 inches. Provenance: By repute, this vase was originally owned by Dr. White, a prominent and wealthy physician in New York City, who then gifted it to the consignor's grandmother. Note: A similar but smaller vase in striated pale ochre, yellow and colorless glass decorated with applied stylized blossoms and branches signed L.C. Tiffany-Favrile 669 C and measuring 4 7/8 inches tall was sold at Sotheby's, New York, 20th Century Decorative Works of Art, June 12, 1998, , where it was previously sold on November 19, 1994, sale no. 6628, . C
The vase appears to be in generally good condition with the exception of a small narrow sliver of loss to the glass along a portion of one of the three main branches/narrow stems that originate at the bottom of the vase; the loss is in a vertical direction and is approximately one-inch in length on the right side of the stem, near the bottom of the vase; the loss is somewhat difficult to find or notice partly because of the coloration and swirling characteristics of the glass and also its location; it is, however, somewhat sharp to the touch, but it is not too obtrusive or noticeable; there do not appear to be any other losses or condition issues with respect to the other stems or blossom decoration; there is some slight dark discoloration that can be observed within the glass behind a cluster of blossoms, located near the bottom of the vase, apparently, in the making, and not of great consequence; the interior appears to be generally clean, i.e., not water stained; the top rim edge appears to be in good condition, i.e., no rim chips, losses, etc.; no apparent hairline cracks in the glass; ground and polished pontil mark
