Tompion London No.542: A Queen Anne burr walnut longcase clock , the concave moulded case on plain foot with rectangular trunk door, the flat-top hood with brass capped 3/4-columns and pierced wood sound fret, the 11in. sq. dial signed Tho:Tompion London on a silvered reserve in the matted centre with subsidiary seconds ring and calendar aperture with pin-hole adjustment, bolt-and-shutter maintaining power with lever by III, pierced blued hands, silvered chapter ring with lozenge half and quarter hour divisions, double-screwed Indian mask-and-scroll spandrels and foliate engraved border, latches to the dial feet and to the five substantial pillared movement, punched 542 at base of the backplate, vertical rack strike on bell above, anchor escapement with gilt-steel rod, pendulum with calibrated rating nut, the movement secured through the seat board with hooks on to the base pillars and with securing bracket to the backboard, the case with restoration 6ft.8in. (204cm.) high
