The Property of THE LATE MR DIRK A DEGENHART, Sold by Order of the Executors 1947 BUICK EIGHT MODEL 51 SUPER FOUR-DOOR SEDAN Registration No. JNE 134 Chassis No. 14758739 Engine No. 49664395 Right hand drive. In 1947, the Series 50 Super range proved to be very popular and accounted for sales of 130,000 saloon models alone. This series was built on a 124 inch chassis and used the highly dependable straight eight 4-litre Fireball engine, producing 110hp. This motor car was first registered in the UK in 1948 and while it was owned by Mr Southworth of Rufford, it is reputed that George Formby often drove it. In the early eighties the car was restored, but after changing hands in April 1991, the last owner being unsatisfied with its condition, ordered a full body restoration and mechanical check over costing around #9,000. The Buick is now in extremely fine condition, finished in metallic blue with a new upholstery specifically imported from America. The only non-standard features are a new button starter, an electric fuel pump and a high level brake light in the rear window. The vehicle has a current MoT, old and new style log books and comes complete with a photographic and documentary file of the restoration. Buick was always known for producing smooth, fast, stylish and well-appointed motor cars. This post-war American classic certainly lives up to this reputation.
