THE MOST HONOURABLE ORDER OF THE BATH, C.B. (Military), neck badge in silver gilt and enamels, in its Garrard& Co. case of issue with full neck ribbon; together with France, Legion of Honour (4th class) and Croix de Guerre, all attributed to Vice- Admiral E.K. Loring, C.B., Royal Navy, and sold with original letter to his brother Capt. W. Loring, 2nd Scottish Horse, at Suvla in November 1915, this returned as that officer had died of wounds on 24 October; and an obituary from The Times, 28 December 1945, very fine or better (3) Footnote Ernest Kindersley Loring was Naval Transport Officer at Anzac, Gallipoli in April 1915; commanded H.M.S. Albion 1915, Naval Assistant to Third Sea Lord 1916. Subsequently commanded H.M.S. Indomitable and Warspite in the Grand Fleet; retired 1923; Vice- Admiral 1926; died 24 December 1945. The letter to his brother written on board H.M.S. Albion and sadly never read, gives excellent details of the Gallipoli landings.
