The MG B was launched in May 1962 to replace the MG A and was introduced as a four-cylinder roadster with a Coupé added in 1965. It was a relatively modern design at the time of its introduction, utilising a monocoque structure instead of the traditional 'body-on-frame' construction used on both the MG A and MG T-types. The lightweight design reduced manufacturing costs while adding to overall vehicle strength. Manual windows were standard and a comfortable driver's compartment offered plenty of legroom. The MG B's performance was considered brisk at the time of its introduction with a 0–60mph time of just over 11 seconds; this was aided by the relatively light weight of the car. Handling was one of MG B's strong points. The three-bearing 1798cc, B-Series engine produced 95bhp at 5,400rpm with the engine upgraded in October 1964 to a five-bearing crankshaft in an effort to improve reliability. This early, ‘pull handle’, 1964 MG B Roadster with overdrive was restored some years ago but the vendor states that it is still remains in very good condition throughout after being in a private collection and in storage since 2007. Finished in one of the most attractive colour schemes that came from the MG factory of Iris Blue with dark blue leather interior, this MG B is supplied with a V5 registration document and a MoT test certificate which expires in April 2019. The MG B represents good value in today's market and enjoys excellent club support, specialist services and parts back up; a motor car just awaiting a new owner to enjoy it for years to come.
