The MG B was first introduced in May 1962 as a direct replacement for the MG A. Performance was brisk with power supplied by a 1798cc, four-cylinder iron block engine set within a monocoque lightweight bodyshell with crumple zones incorporated. October 1965 saw the introduction of the GT and was based on the already popular roadster. Designed by Pinninfarina, the new GT sported a hatchback giving useful access to the rear luggage space and a rear bench seat that enabled the car to be called a 2+2. Although acceleration was slightly slower than the roadster, top speed was better by 5mph due to the increased aerodynamic efficiency. With only three owners from new, with the last purchasing the car in 2016 for his private collection, this green GT example, with black interior, is offered in splendid condition with the original registration number. It has covered just under 55,000 miles from new and has a good history file with plenty of bills to help any bidder understand the care of ownership. We are informed by the vendor she drives perfectly and is in super order having had a complete service including new brake discs and brake pads, intercooler, fan blades and of course a change of oil just before being purchased and put on display. This MG B GT is supplied with a V5C registration document and an MoT test certificate which expires in April 2019. A great example of a fabulous British sports car.
