Beschreibung:

Terence MacSwiney A paid cheque for 2 issued to Macroom Branch Federation of Demob[ilised] Sailors & Soldiers, 8.vii.1920, signed in Irish by MacSwiney, endorsed rear by L. Leech for the Federation. Apparently this was a contribution towards the Federation's new headquarters in Macroom. The cheque is interesting in view of the controversy over Sinn Fein's attitude to former British soldiers. MacSwiney's decision to contribute to their Federation's funds does not suggest a hostile attitude on his part. Provenance: Cronin collection.
