Green (two loosely inserted letetrs from the author to Green, dated Hove Place, W. Brighton, 18 & 23 December, 1899, one offering him the book for 2/-, the other saying how 'unforeseen circumstances' had led the publisher's 'to abandon' it, the first letter written on a proof copy of the title-page -- Irving Rosenwater (loose notes in his hand; Collection Catalogue I, 211). NUMBER 28 OF 50 UNCORRECTED PROOF COPIES, inscribed by the author. Describes the Gardens as 'the centre of attraction, the venue for recreation, and a fashionable resort in the early days of Brighton's history'. Padwick 892.
