Clifford with Uncle Bram's love 15 July 1897", half-title, original cloth, spine darkened, some soiling to covers, 8vo, Westminster, Archibald Constable and Company, 1897 The recipient was the novelist and playwright, Lucy Clifford (1846-1929) widow of the mathematician and philosopher William Kingdon Clifford, who died at the age of 33 in 1879. Her numerous friends included Henry James Rudyard Kipling and Sir Leslie Stephen. Lawrences sold the Valehouse Collection of correspondence to Lucy Clifford in July 2004. See illustration.
