Capilettera e testatine xilografiche. Restauro all'angolo superiore esterno delle carte c1 e c2, gora al margine superiore del volume, con conseguente fallo di carta alle prime 10 carte (senza perdita di testo), bruniture, tracce di polvere, alcune carte increspate. Legatura ottocentesca in vitello. Piatti distaccati e abrasi. Interessanti marginalia manoscritti che traducono alcuni lemmi nell'inglese contemporaneo alla mano che li ha vergati. Rarissima editio princeps del primo trattato relativo alla riforma dell'ortografia inglese, redatto dal parlamentare, diplomatico e studioso sir Thomas Smith (1513-1577). Repairs to the upper outer margin of fols. c1 and c2; browning and dusting. Waterstain to the upper margin of the entire volume, more prominent to first ten leaves, however not affecting text. 19th-century calf. Covers detached and rather worn. Marginalia in an early English hand. Exceedingly rare first edition of the first printed work entirely devoted to the orthographic reform of English language, by the politician and diplomat Sir Thomas Smith (1513-1577). Only two copies of the 1568 edition at auction in the 20th-century, in 1929 and 1977.
