SAYINGS OF 'ALI SAFAVID IRAN, 17TH CENTURY Prayers, Arabic and Persian manuscript on paper, 16ff. plus 7 fly-leaves. each with 9ll. of calligraphy arranged into panels of small black nasta'liq alternated with panels of large blue and gold naskh with black and blue diacritics, the panels all with red outlines, each side with panels of floral illumination on variously coloured grounds, between gold margins with polychrome rule, with single blue outer rule, the opening bifolio with gold and polychrome illuminated headpiece and the calligraphy in cloud-bands reserved against a ground of floral illumination, area of black staining in the upper margin affecting many folios, various other minor waterstains, in brown morocco with stamped central medallion, borders and doublures in black morocco Text panel 5 1/8 x 3 1/8in.
