Salis's Rosella casuum Paganinus de Paganinis, 1499 SALIS, Baptista de (fl. late 15th century). Rosella casuum. Venice: Paganinus de Paganinis, 21 December 1499. Popular guide to canon law, in a contemporary binding. Originally entitled Summa casuum conscientiae and published in 1483, the text is here expanded and revised under a new title. It is HC 14186*; GW 3326; BMC V 460; BSB-Ink T-474; Bod-inc T-259; IGI 1207; Goff S-50; ISTC is00050000. Super-chancery octavo (160 x 99mm). 490 leaves. Two red Lombard initials on p. 1, many gatherings unopened (repairs at inner margins of first quire, some spotting and dampstaining, worming affecting text in first quire and final leaf). Contemporary German blindstamped calf over wooden boards, clasps, manuscript fore-edge title (hinge cracked). Provenance: Robert Walsingham Martin (1871-1961; bookplate; his sale, Parke-Bernet, 12 November 1963, lot 398) – acquired there via Lucien Goldschmidt.
