Partly printed document accomplished and signed ("Edward Rutledge"), South Carolina, 21 September 1773. 1 page, oblong folio, paper seal, neatly inlaid, accomplished in manuscript by Rutledge . A summons issued in the name of King George III, requesting "Sarah Niley...to answer to Thomas Ryall in a plea of Trespass..." Second signature on verso. With a second summons, 13 May 1777, with secretarial accomplishments and signature. -- RUTLEDGE, John (1739-1800), Governor of South Carolina. Autograph letter signed ("J: Rutledge") to T. Young, n.p., 17 September 1778. 1 page, oblong, silked, old stains. Young, accused of being disloyal to America, is advised that he must convince the Georgia assembly "that you really have been, and are, as you declare, a Friend...of America, & hearty in its' Causes," if he wishes to regain his property. -- RUTLEDGE, John. Autograph letter signed ("John Rutledge") to Major General Harper, Charleston, 29 May 1816. 1 page, 4to, integral autograph address panel. A letter of introduction for Mr. Fergusson: "You will greatly oblige me by receiving & introducing him in your hospitable City, as my Friend." (4)
