Beschreibung:

A Russian gilt bronze chandelier after design by the architect Karl (Carlo) Rossi (1775–1849), the circular corona with sprays of floral branches issuing scroll-cast chains suspending a pierced circular dish cast with alternating lyres, scrolls and supporting figures of frolicking putti to the rim, with eight foliage scrolled candlearms and pinecone finial. St. Petersburg, 19th century. H. 98 cm. Diam. 66 cm. Karl Rossi was born in Naples in December 1775 and travelled to Russia at the age of ten with his mother, who was the renowned ballerina Gertruda (Guertroude) Rossi.
