Fields stamped in gilt, raised bands, wide floriate gilt turn-ins, red silk doublures, all edges gilt. Sangorski and Sutcliffe's interpretations of the Rubaiyat are justly famous and among their most important work. "The Great Omar", a nearly legendary copy in an exquisite jewelled binding, was on its way to America when it sunk with the Titanic in 1912. Francis Sangorski died later that year.
