Poissons was designed by Lalique in 1937 as one of two fountains for the 'Exposition Internationale des Arts et Techniques', although very few examples have been produced ever since. The only Poissons fountain on public display is located at The Savoy Hotel, London, and the present example is thought to be one of only two such fountains in the United States.
