To our knowledge no more than 80 kilos of this rare variety of cat's eye opal have been mined in the last 30 years. The present unusual necklace is formed of 18 oval beads, each measuring 20 x 22mm, specifically carved so that the lustrous seam of cat's eye yellow opal in is visible in the green serpentine matrix. Completed by a 14K yellow gold s-hook clasp, length 19in. Total aggregate weight, 909.5 carats.
