(Title slightly marked and creased, occasional light spotting or marking, one plate with short tear affecting image.) Contemporary English half calf over marbled boards, spine gilt in compartments and lettered across 4 (extremities a little rubbed, minor cracking on joints). RUYSSEN'S RARE SERIES OF PLATES, EXTRA-ILLUSTRATED WITH A PORTRAIT OF RAPHAEL. Brunet, Graesse and Lowndes all call for fifteen plates, stating that the work was issued as a series of three fascicules between 1798 and 1801 (which, as the title states, depict the cartoons at Windsor); this copy has Cardon's engraving of Ruyssen's copy of Raphael's self-portrait in the Bessborough collection bound in after the title as a frontispiece to the collection.
