White, black and red poster. 21.25" x 33.25". Excellent condition: bright colors, sharp corners, no nicks, tears, creases, dings. Licensed "Keep On Truckin'" posters are uncommon: most "Keep On Truckin'" merchandise was bootleged. Quintessential Crumb image of the Sixties, which the artist now detests: "'I’ll never be able to shake that Mr. ‘60s crap,' he grumbles, 'and it’s really annoying that ‘Keep on Truckin’ is seen as my trademark. Imagine being branded with something you casually threw out in April, 1967, that somehow catches the popular imagination and follows you to your grave. I can see ‘Keep on Truckin’ engraved on my tombstone.'" - Los Angeles Times, June 25, 1989. Getting deprived of much-needed revenue by bootleggers didn't improve Crumb's regard for the iconic image: "He was bilked out of the copyright to 'Keep on Truckin’,' which was declared public domain in 1976, the same year that the IRS hit him with a bill for $30,000 in back taxes." -op. cit.
