A miscellaneous collection of letters, documents and signatures, 17th/20th century, including ten fragments of seventeenth-century treasury documents with signatures of lords of the treasury etc.; a collection of over 20 letters to Kenric B. Murray, secretary of the London Chamber of Commerce (two from Lord Lytton), with menus and an invitation to view the Channel Tunnel Works at Shakespeare Cliff, Dover, on 21 April 1883. Together with letters (ALsS unless otherwise indicated) of Marguerite Blessington; F.C. Selous (two signatures); the second Earl of Macclesfield, 1752, mentioning the reform of the Calendar that year; Algernon Percy, 10th Earl of Northumberland, 15 June 1667; Robert Baden-Powell (long ALS to Barrington Toote, 1905, typewritten note of books dealing the defence of Mafeking, and a separate full signature); Albert Schweitzer (signed inscription, 1934); E.B. Pusey (2); W.T. Stead (signed photograph, 1906); the Duke of Wellington (autograph envelope, 1836, and two autograph fragments); Emily Faithfull (postcard in a shaky hand, 1895); Henry Brougham (3, one damaged); Richard Cobden (admission permit to the House of Commons, 1848); Andrews Norton, 1850; Elizabeth Wordsworth, 1891; a badly stained and almost illegible document signed by the first Duke of Marlborough; medieval fragment, printed declaration '(to be read in all churches' following the Rye Hose Plot of 1683, and a disbound copy of the Treaty of Utrecht, John Baskett, London 1713, plus a quantity of other miscellaneous documents (a small carton)
