Half-titles. Two engraved frontispiece portraits, engraved map, engraved facsimile (some spotting). (Some spotting to text.) Original blind-stamped olive-green cloth, gilt-lettered on spines (spines a bit faded, small stain at head of spine on vol. II, discoloration to endpapers). Provenance : ?Kami Lyom Van Karnec (early signatures on flyleaves) -- B.R. Lyom (signatures on endleaves and at end) -- Estelle Doheny (morocco bookplates). First American edition, without the printer's imprint on the copyright page in vol. I (no priority). BAL gives priority to the English edition, although Bibliographical Notes to the Grolier list cites the American edition, listing an earlier publication date for America.
