POST MEDIEVAL GOLD POPE PAUL VI VATICAN II PRESENTATION RING 1963 AD A flat-section gold hoop with mitre-shaped edge, overlap to rear; impressed images of three nimbate robed saints within recessed arches to the bezel, expanding-arm cross above the central figure; papal arms of Paul VI to the reverse of the bezel, heater shield with three fleurs-de-lys above a mountain, papal crown and crossed keys; internal maker's mark and lozenge with '750' to the joint; designed by Enrico Manfrini (1917-2004) and with his signature to the outside face. 13 grams, 21mm overall, 18.63mm internal diameter (approximate size British Q 1/2, USA 8 1/2, Europe 18.40, Japan 17) (3/4"). Very fine condition. Provenance Property of a German gentleman; formerly the property of a German cardinal; gifted by Pope Paul VI at the promulgation of the Sacrosanctum Concilium (Constitution on the Sacred Liturgy and generally known as Vatican II), Vatican, 4 December 1963.
