First edition, second issue, with new engraved title and preliminary leaves. A finely illustrated manual of Euclidian geometry and its practical application showing surveying instruments and instruments in use; followed by a series of plates with diagrams of Euclidian geometry, other plates of surveying and measuring including architectural plans and elevations of buildings and streets. Many of the surveying scenes include figures in gentlemanly, military costumes or nude. The first 44 plates were designed by Pomodoro, but he died before the work was complete and the text was provided by Giovanni Scala, who supplied a further seven plates. Folio (345 x 236mm). Finely decorated engraved title with coat of arms in the center, numerous full-page woodcut illustrations, initials and headpieces (light soiling, some dampstaining, few small wormholes mainly in the edges). Contemporary speckled calf (rebacked preserving part of the original spine, modern endpapers).
