PETRUS DE PALUDE (pseudo-). Sermones thesauri novi de tempore et de sanctis. Nuremberg: Anton Koberger 18th February 1487. Volume two (of 2). Chancery 2 o (278 x 204 mm). Collation : aa 8 bb-zz \\i\\i Aa-Mm 6 Nn 8 . 225 leaves (of 226; lacks last blank). 55 lines and head-lines, double column. Gothic types 9:165 (head-lines and headings); 8:84 (text). Capital spaces, a few with guide-letters. Opening 16-line initial illuminated by a contemporary Nuremberg artist, rubricated in red with Lombard initials and paragraph marks. (Few head-lines cropped, mostly marginal browning and dampstaining, Bb1-Ee2 with small marginal defect, light marginal worming.) 18th-century vellum over boards (some chipping and splitting to spine). Provenance : Estelle Doheny (morocco bookplate; purchased from Dawson's Bookshop, Los Angeles, 1 August 1941) -- donated to SMS 1941. Known as the Thesaurus novus in the numerous incunable editions, this popular collection of sermons became attributed in the sixteenth century to the fourteenth-century French Dominican Petrus de Palude.
