Title within woodcut architectural border, woodcut device and sun device on last page (lacking E4&5, last leaf repaired and mounted on verso with window cut around device, spotting and marginal staining). Later 16th-century Italian limp vellum (spine damaged). Provenance : old stamp of the Library of the Apostles, Naples, on 3 pages. FIRST EDITION IN ITALIAN. Brunet IV, 567. PETRARCA, Francesco. Sonetti e canzoni . Venice: Aldine Press, June 1533. 8°. Woodcut device at end (lacking title but supplied in ink facsimile, small wormhole in first and last few leaves, last 2 leaves repaired with slight loss of one letter, light marginal thumb-soiling at beginning). 19th-century half calf, gilt and gauffered edges (upper joint a trifle rubbed).
