Venice: Aldo Manuzio and Andrea Torresano, May 1517. 2 o (315 x 212 mm). Italic type, large woodcut anchor device on title page, K8v and verso of last leaf, initial spaces with printed guide letters. (Title and last leaf soiled, title repaired on verso, last leaf mounted, marginal paper-tape repair on p7r, several leaves browned in the x and y gatherings, some pale marginal dampstaining.) Modern brown library leather; preserving a few deckle edges. Third Aldine edition of Perottus' magnum opus , reprinting the 1513 edition, with part I dated May 1517 and part II dated "November 1513". Perottus became governor of Perugia and later of Umbria before being appointed archbishop of Siponto. His writings include original works, transcripts and commentaries. The Cornucopiae is a vast treatise on the Latin language written in the form of a commentary on Martial's Epigrams . Adams P-720; Ahmanson-Murphy 132; Brunet IV.505-6; Renouard 81.10.
